Industry Events Check List:

  • Create a marketing and publicity plan including a implementation time-line.
  • Consider marketing channels including word of mouth.
  • Promote heavily everywhere including public listing and calendars.
  • Set a price if there is one.  Consider a discount policy.
  • Do you need a special license?
  • Will you need name badges? Consider the physical attachment methodology.
  • Send out invitations snail mails and emails if you have addresses.
  • Set up your external outreach and consider using a syndication service.
  • Verify the date and consider conflicts in your region.
  • Get individual commitment buy-in from your staff and volunteers.
  • Name your event, create a tag line,  and stick with it. Promote with it.
  • Create a special logo for your event, or use an existing one.
  • Consider speakers, entertainment, sponsors and partners.
  • Mount a volunteer effort and make a calendar for them.
  • Document a count down marketing campaign and share it.
  • Order the necessary pouring glasses and supplies.
  • Inventory the wine your will be showcasing, consider temperature and timing.
  • Print wine profiles and ordering forms.
  • Test your point of sale system in your event’s location.
  • Make a budget and get approval. Plan for overages.
  • Will there be a gift or takeaway?
  • Remember that meet and greet at the door is important.
  • Give yourself an extra day!
  • Be prepared for the unexpected.
  • Create a metric for success and measure against it.
